What Customers Say About Avermedia TVBox 9 MTVBOXEX9:

Ideal if you already have a spare computer monitor lying around. This product has lived up to everything I hoped. Very easy to connect, and works beautifully. If you use it as a primary viewing for cable television, a minor con is that you won't be able to use your cable remote to also control volume as you would with most regular TVs. So you need to use both the Avermedia remote and your cable remote for operation.
Delivered very quickly. Easy installation; I have a dual screen set-up, so I had to reconfigure the screens to recognize the new hardware--again no problem. Works well, and as advertised.
We have it set up in our conference room to get cable and to switch between devices to hook up to a projector. We have had no problems, and operation is simple.
It lets you switch from PC to TV with a click of a button, and has a nice Picture-in-Picture function that can be moved around the PC screen. The TVBox 9 does exactly what it advertises: it lets you use your PC monitor (CRT or LCD) as a Television set. The resolution goes up to 1280x1024 and the picture and sound is great. The only problems I found with the TVBox 9 have to do with using it for video games:1) The picture got a little blurry on the XBox.2) The PIP function only works on PC mode (e.g. can't see PC in the PIP box while watching TV, and can't see XBox while watching TV or vice versa)3) Picture tended to be a bit dark on XBox, even on the highest brightness. That aside, I think it's a great product and I'm glad I bought it.
Works as advertised except that the stated "PAL" support is for the South American PAL standards, not the European PAL standard. A workaround is to use a cable box and use the video input on the TVbox, the regular cable attachment will not work. It works but I lost any picture-in-picture capabilities as I now have just a single feed into the monitor. However, given that this was significantly less expensive than the European model, I'm satisfied with the product.
